Data

It is envisioned that the responses to the questionnaire will be published on this page. In time, the DIHR will develop a bespoke data portal allowing a wide range of stakeholders to learn about the status of the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in different countries.

The data portal can be used for:

  • Advocacy. Civil society organisations and national human rights institutions can use the data in their advocacy efforts e.g. for the development of National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights, the review of laws and policies, the development of studies on business related human rights impacts.
  • Identifying trends and comparing progress. As more entries into the database become available, the data portal can be used to compare progress across different regions/ countries, which in turn can inform the identification of regional themes and potential interventions by international and regional organisations and donors.
  • Company due diligence. Companies and investors can use the data portal to identify country related human rights risks, including policy and legal gaps, to inform their human rights due diligence processes.
  • Human rights monitoring. The database could be useful in the context of the work of regional or international human rights bodies or other international inter-government organisations for example when conducting country visits and/or examining periodic reports submitted by States. Civil society can use the database to monitor State progress in the implementation of business and human rights commitments and use it in their engagement with the UPR, UN treaty bodies or Special Procedures etc.
